Busy Earley Beavers

Beavers at the 84th Reading Colony have had a busy time recently both at their home base at Radstock Primary School and out and about.  Kingfisher (Trish) gave us an update:

Last term we had a ‘Bring and Buy’ sale and raised over £100 for the Headway charity (see picture above of us visiting Headway to present the cheque).

We had a science evening where we made volcanoes, slime, lava lamps and did static experiments with Balloons.

Last week we worked our  promise badge, did some relays with the promise cut up, learnt a new camp fire song, talked about things we liked and did not like about Beavers and things we would like to do.  We also thought about ways to ‘Do our Best’.

We have some fund stuff planned for this term, this week is animal week, we will be making some masks and playing animal games and learning an animal campfire song.

The following week we are having a circus workshop entertainer coming in.

We are also planning a Horrid Henry week, Codebreakers week and a trip to the Lookout.

Trip to Compton

1st Earley St Peter’s Cubs visited the 1st Compton Cub pack on Saturday and navigated their way around a 9km walk, built catapults and enjoyed a campfire.  Many thanks to the leaders at Compton for organising a really enjoyable day.

Brothers gain Chief Scout awards

Brothers, Ryan and Kieran shared double success recently at the 1st Earley St Peters Cubs and Beavers as they received their Chief Scout Bronze and Silver awards.  These awards recognise the completion of a large number of challenges over a considerable period of time and are the highest awards in Beavers and Cubs – a great example of setting a goal and working steadily towards it.  Well done.
